Rob Pine is quite simply the Godfather of disc golf in Kingman. In 1997, he worked hard to get a disc golf course approved by our little town's
Parks and Rec department. Though he's been at it for quite some time now, Rob continues to play at a very high level. Remarkably, he was a
friend of and played with the father of disc golf, "Steady" Ed Headrick. In 2007, Pine, the premier disc golf course designer in northwest Arizona,
was commissioned to install a course at Mohave Community College in Kingman that would become Cactus Flats...still the only 18 hole course in
Mohave County. He has since spearheaded five more courses in the area....two in Bullhead City, a private course in Meadview, and a pair of
courses up in the Hualapai Mountains. A fierce competitor on the course as well, Pine finished a respectable 2nd in the 2010 Ice Bowl with an even
par score in rough weather conditions, but left a lasting impression with his
memorable performance in the putting competition afterwards. In late
2010, Pine made Mohave Disc Golf history by becoming the second player ever to collect 2 aces in a single round of disc golf when he drained
holes 1 and 3 at Mountainview. Rob is a very strong player at Thursday League and in tournaments and still has serious game. Pine has held
nearly every record in the book at one time or another but is one of just 2 players with a (-10) for a 9-hole round of blue tees at Firemans and holds
the Riverview course record with a pair of (-7) rounds. He will tell you how he has lost a step, then proceed to laugh while you hand over money...
